My brother owns Forgetting Sarah Marshall and has said that it is one of his favorite movies. I've never seen it. Is it good?

Kaitlyn, I would not recommend Forgetting Sarah Marshall... to me the crude parts were not worth watching it for the humor.  I had to leave before finishing the dvd, but I never bothered to watch the rest.  It actually made me uncomfortable.

Thanks for the heads up, Julie. I won't watch it. :-)

It is very vulgar.....but I have a crush on Russell Brand(don't ask me why since he is one of the most disgusting Brits ever!!) I still think it's the accent.

I finally just saw Where the Wild Things Are at our $1 movie theater on Tuesday. It was GLORIOUS. The filming style & the story were marvelous to me. and i felt like the movie was a picture of childhood... the feelings, ideas, thoughts, and things that REAL children go through. It was a little dark. but i liked it.

Who else has seen it? and what were your thoughts?

I saw it when it was in the movie theater. Loved it. I hated the book when I was little, but just absolutely adored the movie. It was probably one of my favorite movies of the year.

I loved it and can't wait to watch it again.  I wrote about it in the new "best of `09" rabbit room post if anybody here didn't see that one...  http://www.rabbitroom.com/?p=5771

Peace!

What a great (and long) post! I basically skimmed over it, but I was so happy to see that so many of my favorite music, books and movies from 2009 made the cut for so many rabbit room posters.

love love love that Rabbit Room Post!  :)

Mindy... you don't have any Cinema Cafe's or dollar theaters that play movies after they are out of the regular theater? SAD. :-[

In other news... my song obsession of the day is Chasing Pirates - Norah Jones. So divine. She has my kind of imagination. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTxythHY09k

I watched (500) Days of Summer and My Sisters Keeper last night. They were both good.

I preferred My Sisters Keeper much more, though. Even though it absolutely wrecked me inside, it was a good movie. I can't really put it into words, because it sort of hit close to home with my Grandma passing away from cancer in March of last year. It was good, though.

I watched the Tim Burton directed film, Big Fish, this morning.  What a great reflection on truth, metaphor, and storytelling. Has anyone seen it?

My Sister's Keeper killed me.

and i love love love love love love (did i say love?) (500) days of summer! number one, both Joseph Gordon-Levitt & Zooey Deschanel are both two of my favourites. The soundtrack is amaaaazzzinggg... and the way the story was told & the movie was filmed were just magical. I am a HUGE fan of quirky films... i recently re-watched it and loved it even more the second time. <3

I saw Big Fish when it first came out on DVD years ago, so i barely remember the story... i remember it being kind of weird, but really liking it! :] I would love to see it again now that i'm older!

This quote reminded me of "More Like Falling in Love." It's from N.T. Wright's book, The Crown and the Fire:

"The word became flesh, said St. John, and the Church has turned the flesh back into words: words of good advice, words of comfort, words of wisdom and encouragement, yes, but what changes the world is flesh, words with skin on them, words that hug you and cry with you and play with you and love you and rebuke you and build houses with you and teach our children in school."

Yah, we have one...I drive by it everyday! :) But I haven't been to it on a really long time....They are still playing New Moon and a couple others that I didn't want to see. But it's out on vid now, so I will be adding Where the Wild THings Are to the top of my Netflix queue :)
